Letter of Consolation by Pierre Viret
Pierre Viret's pastoral letters of encouragement to French Protestants suffering under Roman Catholic persecution, written in the sixteenth century up to the legalization of Protestant worship in France in 1559. Viret—a Swiss Reformer and close colleague of John Calvin—comforts and strengthens his people through intense hardship, urging them to patient endurance and steadfast faith. This new translation makes an important and long-neglected work of Reformation pastoral care available to contemporary readers.
